Our authority to act
Our High Court Enforcement Officer is authorised by the Lord Chancellor’s office to enforce High Court Writs. He has been authorised since 2004 and as well as being one of a very limited number of authorised officers in the UK. He sits as an Executive Director of the High Court Enforcement Officers Association.

County Court Bailiffs/Enforcement Agents are employees of the Court. They have limited power and the required resource available to them when compared to High Court Enforcement Officers and that’s why the majority of creditors turn to a High Court Enforcement Officer for the swift resolution of debt.

The cost of using a County Court Bailiff Vs a High Court Enforcement Officer

• The cost of using a County Court Bailiff is between £77 and £100
• The cost of using a High Court Enforcement Officer is £75 + VAT but this in only payable if they are unsuccessful at recovering the debt.

High Court Enforcement Officers are required to pass on VAT for the cost of enforcement, but you will be able to reclaim this as a normal cost of doing business if you are registered.

The transfer up if a CCJ to the High Court for enforcement
If you have a County Court Judgment (CCJ), we offer a free administration service to transfer the case up to the High Court to obtain a Writ. Your CCJ however will need to be:

• above £600 in value, inclusive of court fees and any interest
• less than 6 years old
